Nasi Tumpeng

29th January 2011, House Warming at Robert & Nina 's residential home =p

The hosts had been very generous in providing us the meals. We had Indonesia's famous Nasi Tumpeng. Which usually, is only served to celebrate important event. The philosophy of Tumpeng signifies the geographical condition in Indonesia, especially Java to be fertile island. The tall cone shape of the rice symbolized the mountain in Java as tall and magnificent. This unique dishes was served as a means to signify blessings for the house. This was followed by prayers and blessings by the invited pastor and many friends who love and supports this family.

All foods were delicious, including Nina's home-cook 'Bak mi', or Indonesian noodles. The guests had great time enjoying themselves in the house. The house-warming was a success. And not to forget, Himelda's Indonesian style cheesecakes and her signature Tiramisu were really wonderful :)

Kitchen Workshop Buffet

25th January 2011 - 18.00 pm @ Kitchen Workshop, Crown Entertainment Complex.

Having mon premier Unilodge Company dinner buffet ~ A cozy effective way to get together with the managers & other staff members, while having a chance to have your ideal way of dining experiences.

Instead of rushing to the food counter and taking as much food ravenously, I did it step by step and never against the order by starting from:

1. Appetizer - Tomato & Basil soup with croutons, garnished with Parmesan cheese
2. Salad - Garden salad with French Dressing, Beetroots, Tomatoes, Pasta Salad, etc.
3. Entree - Cordon Bleu Veal with Chat Potatoes, with many others available here and there.
4. Main Courses - Grilled Pepper Fish, Roasted Chicken, & Roast Beef.
5. Dessert, observable from the photograph.

And, please don't get me wrong. When it comes to buffet, my ideal rule is to take as little portion as much for each food that I would devour upon. Take your time, eat gracefully, and no rush ! Thinking in mind, that this is a time for food tasting. Be careful on the portion on each dishes would allow me to safe more rooms for my stomach, in conducting the maximum gastronomic activity as possible, and at the same time, to watch over my weight. Plenty of people would have the pleasure to be represented as my witnesses.

The overall ambiance of the dining room was all right, despite the limit of food varieties compared to Sante, but I do think that the quality of the food here is pretty satisfying. The only thing that I found it disappointing was the roast beef - hard, not enough taste.. anyway,
Love the grill pepper fish the most. I ate double portion & it's simply Enchante !

A Memorable Wedding Dinner

Saturday, 3rd May 08.

My cousin's, Peggy's wedding was celebrated at Summerfileds Country House, Bittern which place is fantastically beautiful, romantic and elegant. Once arrived, the guests were ushered into a comfotably decorated living room, as a rendevous accompanied by various drinks. The dinner was presented in banquet style; a candlelights in a middle of each round table complete with sets of cutlary appropriate for fine dining. I had a hearty dish of chicken breast with a homey flavour and delicious sticky date pudding for the dessert. The wedding atmosphere was pleasant and many couples enjoyed the night dancing with the love ones. The night was celebrated with merriment.

Comme: socially obligatory

As the ideal place to celebrate the coming birthday of my fellow mates, the chosen Comme Restaurant had become our dinner destination.
Comme Kitchen is an informal, bistro-style restaurant with a menu that draws inspiration from the border of French and Spanish.
Amongst the meals served, I personally love Comme Charcuterie plate avocado - known as the signature dish, perfect for appetizer that you would love to devour.
The overall dining experience was pleasant from the start, while the dessert was unforgettable. As for the cons, the main plates were rather ordinary and the presentation was not as attractive as expected. A once to go only enjoyable gastronomic adventure as described. However, a genuine thanks for the dining invitation.

Chinese New Year Dinner 2008

7th Feb 2008 - chinese new year dinner.

Location - Spicy Fish, followed by Tien Ren

Spicy Fish has been one of my fav. restaurants in Chinatown. But I couldn't have the fish and
chicken that I love that night since not everyone could take spicy food that well..
Moreover, the plum tea at Tien Ren suits my taste the best - next time I will order that again.

Detail - thx to Alan, who organised this Chinese new year dinner together. Otherwise, I 'll have
dinner alone that night. It's pretty enjoyable gathering together after work in non-working
attire. Glad that Henny and Bernard could make it that night too.

p.s. I think I will miss the food... since I have difficulties eating for a week now..

the Brasserie

When I am given a choice of which fine dining that I would like to choose, I would say.. French..

3rd of February was the 2nd time I went to have French cousine for this year (I went to Bistro Vue last month) - the Brasserie by Philippe Mouchel. The whole atmosphere was more relaxed than a fine diner, more formal than a bistro. To start of, me and my friends ordered the Brasserie's assorted charcuterie, toasted sourdough as entree. Well, not everybody would like to eat the liver.... but the presentation was really unique as you can see it in the picture.

For the main, I had chicken fricasse, which turned out satisfying as well. For the side, I love the sauteed mushrooms with Parisienne gnocchi the most.  As for the dessert not to be missed, I would recommend the tasting plate.

I went for both lunch and dinner before, so I could give two thumbs up for overall feel as a customer. If you are looking for excellent gastronomic experience, this is one of the fine restaurants to choose.

A very good Farewell to 2007

To close of 2007, the last dining I had for the 31st, which was also probably the best dining of the year, was at Borsari - Italian Fine Dining Restaurant with my very best friend, Mikha. Thanks to him, I didn't have to spend my New Year myself. LOl ~ The place has a very cozy, private kind of feel dining, the food was delicious and the sparkling wine was great. I love the pudding with the brandy sauce most.

As for the countdown, we had the chance to view fabulous fireworks display, adorning Melbourne's sky....despite having no choice but to walk around the crowded streets for some reasons. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to take any good picture of it. Happy New Year 2008 !
